Majority of the Time

Health Doesn’t Require Extremes

Many people approach health with an “all-or-nothing” mindset. They believe success requires rigid diets, training five days a week, or living with unwavering adherence. But this pursuit of perfection often backfires — leading to burnout, guilt, and inconsistency.

The truth? Health isn’t built on perfection. It’s built on majority behaviours — the things you do most of the time, not every single time.

The Power of the Majority

  • Eat minimally processed foods the majority of the time.
That doesn’t mean you can never have pizza or ice cream — it means most of your meals are simple, nutritious, and based on whole foods.

  • Exercise 2–3 times a week the majority of the time.
You don’t need to train for a marathon or commit to a 5-day split. A few consistent weekly workouts beat sporadic bursts of intensity.

  • Get 7–9 hours of sleep the majority of the time.
A late night here and there is fine, as long as your average keeps you rested.

  • Manage stress the majority of the time.
You can’t avoid stress completely, but developing habits such as walking, journalling, or breathing practices can minimise its toll.

Why “Majority” Works

  • Physiology favours averages. Your body responds to long-term trends, not single meals, workouts, or late nights.

  • Consistency beats intensity. Extreme approaches fade quickly; moderate ones endure.

  • Flexibility facilitates adherence. When you allow space for life — birthdays, holidays, or busy weeks — you’re more likely to stick with your habits over time.

  • Lifestyle integration. Health isn’t a separate project; it’s part of living. “Majority of the time” lets health coexist with family, work, and social life.

Consistency Compounds

Just like compound interest in a savings account, your healthy behaviours add up over time. Occasional indulgences, missed workouts, or sleepless nights don’t erase your progress — they’re absorbed into the larger pattern.

Health doesn’t require perfection. It just requires the majority.

Start by winning most of the week, not every hour of the day.

Majority > Perfection.
